Tour overview

The safari offers three wildlife hotpots in Kenya. Highlights include; the Big Five, scenic landscape of the central agricultural highlands, view of Mt Kenya, tree lodge in the Aberdares, scenic Lake Nakuru, the world renown Masai Mara and the panorama of the Great Rift Valley.

Day 1: Nairobi to Aberdare National Park
You will be picked up from the airport or hotel in Nairobi by 1100. Drive 3hr to the Aberdare National Park. The Aberdare Range is a 160 km long mountain range of upland, north of Kenya’s capital Nairobi with an average elevation of 3,500 metres (11,480 ft). Arrive at Aberdare Country Club for lunch. This is the base hotel where you leave behind your luggage and board a 4WD vehicle for a transfer to The Ark Lodge. Set in the heart of the Aberdare National Park, iconic and yes, quirky, The Ark overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick, which attracts a host of awesome wildlife. Modeled after Noah’s Ark, The Ark has four viewing decks with balconies and lounges to provide superb game viewing from the comfort of the lodge. The animals come to you!

Day 2: Aberdares to Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, you will be taken back to the base hotel to pick up luggage and rejoin your driver for a 4hrs drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Arrival and game drive with picnic lunch. The park covers 180 sq km and is home to warthogs, waterbuck, buffaloes, reed bucks, and the occasional leopard. White and black rhinos were introduced to the park some years ago. The park has also retained its reputation as an ornithologists’ delight with more than 400 species of bird found there. After the game drive, transfer to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, depart with picnic lunch boxes for a 5.5hrs journey to Masai Mara National Reserve. It is the most famous and most visited reserve in Kenya. It offers breathtaking views as seen in the film ‘Out of Africa’, where much of it was filmed. If has a high density of wildlife including the “Big Five” and many varieties of plains game. The phenomenal movement of the wildebeests dubbed as the ‘Great Migration’ can be witnessed here annually from July to September. Arrive in the park and enjoy an afternoon game drive before checking in at the camp.

Day 4: Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, full day game drive with picnic lunch or morning and afternoon game drives with lunch at the camp.

Day 5: Masai Mara to Nairobi
Sunrise game drive. After breakfast, take one last look at the wilderness before starting your 6hrs journey back to Nairobi. You will be transferred to the airport in time to check in for your international flight. Depending on your flight time, you might consider having lunch or dinner at the famous Carnivore restaurant.
