Tour overview

This safari includes two memorable days at the game filled plains of the Masai Mara National Reserve and one day at Lake Nakuru National Park which is a bird-lovers’ paradise with breathtaking scenery and a sanctuary for the endangered black rhino. During this adventure, the probability of spotting the big five is high.

Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park
You will be picked up at the airport or hotel in Nairobi for a 2hr drive to Lake Nakuru National Park with picnic lunch boxes for an extended game drive until late evening. Besides the flamingos that the lake is famous for, there are approximately 400 other species of birds. In addition, many species of game can be found in the park including the Rothschild’s giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck, lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon, warthog, hyrax and many other species.

Day 2: Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara National Reserve
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive 5.5 hours to the famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve. This reserve is contiguous with Serengeti and is known for its spectacular great wildebeests migration and home to the Big Five; Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino. Arrive in time for lunch. Check in and relax for a while before departing for an afternoon game drive. The Mara Game Reserve is one of the greatest wildernesses of the world. Large mammals are varied and easy to see.

Day 3: Masai Mara to Narok
Spend the day in Maasai Mara, Kenya’s most popular game sanctuary where you will have the best opportunity of spotting the Big Five – lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant. Evening transfer to Narok town for overnight.
Optional Activities:
*Early morning balloon ride to have an aerial view of the wildlife
*Visit Maasai Village to witness the singing and dancing and other daily activities in their Manyatta.

Day 4: Narok to Lake Naivasha to Nairobi
After breakfast, drive back to Nairobi with a stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint. En route, optional visit to Lake Naivasha for a boat ride or Hell’s Gate park for cycling or a gorge hike (extra cost).

4-Day Lake Nakuru & Masai Mara Big 5 Safari
