Tour overview
This low budget tour offers a combination of two major parks in Kenya; Ol Pejeta Wildlife Conervancy & Lake Nakuru National Park. It is the shortest safari which holds the highest probability of spotting the big 5 as well as many other animal species including a visit to the Sweetwaters chimpanzee Sanctuary. Other interesting activities that you could do: night game drive, game walk, bird walk, behind scenes chimpanzees and lion tracking.
Day 1: Nairobi to OL Pejeta Wildlife Conservancy
You will be picked up in the morning by our driver guide from the airport or your hotel in Nairobi. After a short safari briefing, you will begin your 3.5hrs journey towards the northern region through the central agricultural highlands. You might be lucky to view Kenya’s tallest mountain – Mt Kenya, before you get to Nanyuki town. Arrive at Ol Pejeta and do a game drive on the way to The Stables to check in on time for lunch.
Other accommodation options: Serena Sweetwaters Camp, Kongoni Camp, Naromoru River Lodge, Falcon Heights Hotel. In the afternoon, go out for an afternoon game drive including a visit to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Optional night game drive.
Ol Pejeta boasts an astounding variety of animals including non-indigenous chimpanzees and the Big Five. It is the best location to see the rhino. The combination of amazing wildlife and stunning views across the open plains will guarantee you an unforgettable safari experience.
Day 2: OL Pejeta to Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, depart early for a 3.5hrs drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Arrive and check in at Miale Hotel (options: Punda Milias Camp, Flamingo Hill Camp, Sentrim Elementaita Lodge, Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge, Sarova Lion Hill Lodge). Take lunch before an afternoon game drive. The park covers 180 sq km and is home to warthogs, waterbuck, buffaloes, reed bucks, and the occasional leopard. White and black rhinos were introduced to the park some years ago. The park has also retained its reputation as an ornithologists’ delight with more than 400 species of bird found there.
Day 3: Lake Nakuru to Nairobi
Sunrise game drive before breakfast. Depart after breakfast for the 2hrs journey back to Nairobi. On the way, stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint. Arrival and drop off at the airport or hotel.
